I’m a little obsessed with the local recyclers. To my eye, the inadvertent sculptures they create on their carts are some of the best sculptures in Shanghai. I love the forms that evolve from the economical way in which they stack whatever material they are carting off and I love the lumbering mobility of these forms as they roll down the street. “Heavy Load” is my homage to these anonymous sculptors.
